We build upon the templates and navigational menu that we have created in the past two episodes by creating the structure of our example site, adding links to our menu, creating multiple instances of our master, and using the switch master function to apply specific menus to each page.
Here we discuss the ability to create a menu within a master that can be applied and re-used within multiple templates. We talk about are the pros and cons of the iRise menu system as well as a hands on of creating the menu and adding it to existing templates within a site.
In this episode we create another iRise template using the skills that we’ve used in past episodes. The purpose of creating a sub template is to demonstrate how easy it is to re-purpose items from an initial template to get a new look for content pages other than the homepage.

Masters are a way to create page content or functionality that can be re-used either in templates or pages. In this tutorial we create a master where we embed a flash object and apply into a template. Discussed are the ability of masters to be changed and that functionality is the same throughout, and also the ability to break the master reference and make local changes where needed.
Templates within iRise give you the ability to have a consistent look and feel throughout your iRise project. This tutorial creates a template from an existing page and then shows you how to apply the template to a new page. Also discussed is how your project reacts when templates templates are edited and/or deleted.
This tutorial concentrates on iRise’s ability to import external CSS files and use those styles within your project. We discuss the ability to import and re-import styles and ease of options iRise has available to do this. Also discussed are the pros and cons of doing this and how CSS files and iRise differ.
Styles within iRise are a great way to be able to re-use design elements within a visualization. To use styles you create a collection of formatting attributes over and over on objects within an iRise project. Styles are to iRise Projects what CSS is to HTML. Multiple topics are covered in this episode including: creating a new styles, editing existing styles, using the styles manager, and re-using styles from other projects.
This is the second piece of part 2 of our iRise design tutorials. Included in this video is creating expandable sections, adding text, applying background images, and more.
